Lego MOC: Benny's Workshop (Apocalypseburg Collab)

I was lucky enough to do another major collab with my buddies in the Troutdale Build League. We tackled our own version of Apocalypseburg inspired by The Lego Movie 2 .  There were more than 5 builders involved and we created buildings for Benny, Batman, Metalbeard, Lucy and Emmett. You can see a video of our display at the 2019 Bricks Cascade in Portland: Here's an image of the full layout: My assigned section was Benny's Workshop. I created a large junkyard-style structure where Benny could tinker and repair things for the Apocalypseburg residents.  Suspended above the center of his workshop is Benny's beloved Spaceship, Spaceship, Spaceship!!! but it is now partially disassembled with some discoloring. Behind his workshop I built a moving windmill that doubles as a hidden launch pad for a new spaceship he's secretly working on. The counterbalance for Benny's spaceship is a Duplo monster. A view into the spaceship cockpit. A bit...

Lego MOC: Dino Roller Coaster

Watch Video on Facebook This abandoned theme park ride has been powered up and is back in action -- thanks to a few clever raptors! This is a relatively quick build started about 1 month prior to Bricks Cascade 2019, and completed about a week prior to the show. I didn't purchase the Creator coaster set but instead referenced the instructions to create the main incline and motorized portion. Once mocked up (without the landscaping), the coaster worked great. But as the build progressed, and I added more landscaping, the coaster started slowing, then stopped at places it never stopped before. I tried compressed air, baby wipes on the tracks, different configurations of coaster cars/weight/loads, endlessly tweaked heights of the various tracks. Ultimately I decided to show it at Cascade anyway. We made the most of it despite the build needing constant attention. Many thanks to Mike, Drew and Elhannen for babysitting my build while I was away. :) ...
